【摘要】:TheparametersKEACorKIEACdeterminedbythistestmethodcharacterizetheresistancetocrackgrowthofamaterialwithasharpcrackinspecificenvironmentsunderloadingconditionsinwhichthecrack-tipplasticregionissmallcomparedwiththecrackdepthandtheuncrackedligament.ThelessrestrictivethicknessrequirementsofKEACareintendedforthoseconditionsinwhichtheresultsareastrongfunctionofthethicknessofthespecimenandtheapplicationrequiresthetestingofspecimenswiththicknessrepresentativeoftheapplication.Sincethechemicalandmechanicalinfluencescannotbeseparated,insomematerial/environmentcombinations,thethicknessmustbetreatedasavariable.AKEACorKIEACvalueisbelievedtorepresentacharacteristicmeasurementofenvironment-assistedcrackingresistanceinaprecrackedspecimenexposedtoanenvironmentundersustainedtensileloading.AKEACorKIEACvaluemaybeusedtoestimatetherelationshipbetweenfailurestressanddefectsizeforamaterialunderanyservicecondition,wherethecombinationofcrack-likedefects,sustainedtensileloadingandthesamespecificenvironmentwouldbeexpectedtooccur.(BackgroundinformationconcerningthedevelopmentofthistestmethodcanbefoundinRefs(3-18).1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheenvironment-assistedcrackingthresholdstressintensityfactorparameters,KIEACandKEAC,formetallicmaterialsfromconstant-forcetestingoffatigueprecrackedbeamorcompactfracturespecimensandfromconstant-displacementtestingoffatigueprecrackedbolt-loadcompactfracturespecimens.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletoenvironment-assistedcrackinginaqueousorotheraggressiveenvironments.1.3Materialsthatcanbetestedbythistestmethodarenotlimitedbythicknessorbystrengthaslongasspecimensareofsufficientthicknessandplanarsizetomeetthesizerequirementsofthistestmethod.1.4Arangeofspecimensizeswithproportionalplanardimensionsisprovided,butsizemaybevariableandadjustedforyieldstrengthandappliedforce.Specimenthicknessisavariableindependentofplanarsize.1.5Specimenconfigurationsotherthanthosecontainedinthistestmethodmaybeused,providedthatwell-establishedstressintensitycalibrationsareavailableandthatspecimendimensionsareofsufficientsizetomeetthesizerequirementsofthistestmethodduringtesting.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
