【摘要】:Manysourcesofnaturalgasandpetroleumgasescontainvaryingamountsandtypesofsulfurcompounds,whichareodorous,corrosivetoequipment,andcaninhibitordestroycatalystsusedingasprocessing.Theiraccuratemeasurementisessentialtogasprocessing,operation,andutilization.Smallamounts,typically,1to4ppmvofsulfurodorantcompounds,areaddedtonaturalgasandliquefiedpetroleum(LP)gasesforsafetypurposes.Someodorantcompoundscanbereactiveandmaybeoxidized,formingmorestablecompoundshavinglowerodorthresholds.Thesegaseousfuelsareanalyzedforsulfurodorantstohelpensureappropriateodorantlevelsforsafety.Thistestmethodoffersatechniquetodetermineindividualsulfurspeciesingaseousfuelandthetotalsulfurcontentbycalculation.Gaschromatographyisusedcommonlyandextensivelytodetermineothercomponentsingaseousfuelsincludingfixedgasandorganiccomponents(seeTestMethodD1945).ThistestmethoddictatestheuseofaspecificGCtechniquewithoneofthemorecommondetectorsformeasurement.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofindividualvolatilesulfur-containingcompoundsingaseousfuelsbygaschromatography(GC)withflamephotometricdetection(FPD).Thedetectionrangeforsulfurcompoundsisfrom20to20000picograms(pg)ofsulfur.Thisisequivalentto0.02to20mg/m3or0.014to14ppmvofsulfurbasedupontheanalysisofa1-mLsample.1.2ThistestmethoddescribesaGC-FPDmethodusingaspecificcapillaryGCcolumn.OtherGC-FPDmethods,withdifferencesinGCcolumnandequipmentsetupandoperation,maybeusedasalternativemethodsforsulfurcompoundanalysiswithdifferentrangeandprecision,providedthatappropriateseparationofthesulfurcompoundsofinterestcanbeachieved.1.3Thistestmethoddoesnotintendtoidentifyallindividualsulfurspecies.Totalsulfurcontentofsamplescanbeestimatedfromthetotaloftheindividualcompoundsdetermined.Unknowncompoundsarecalculatedasmonosulfur-containingcompounds.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
