【摘要】:Thetensileelongationpropertydeterminedbythispracticeisofvalueforthecharacterizationofdegradablematerials.Thetensileelongationpropertymayvarywithspecimenthickness,methodofpreparation,speedoftesting,typeofgripsused,andmannerofmeasuringtestextension.Consequently,whereprecisecomparativeresultsaredesired,thesefactorsmustbecarefullycontrolled.Thetensileelongationpropertymaybeutilizedtoprovidedataforresearchanddevelopmentandengineeringdesignaswellasqualitycontrolspecifications.However,datafromsuchtestscannotbeconsideredsignificantforapplicationsdifferingwidelyfromtheload-timescaleofthetestemployed.Materialsthatfailbytearinggiveanomalousdatathatcannotbecomparedwiththosefromnormalfailure.Beforeproceedingwiththistestmethod,referenceshouldbemadetothespecificationsofthematerialbeingtested.Anytestspecimenpreparation,conditioning,dimensions,ortestingparametersoracombinationthereof,coveredinthematerialspecificationsshalltakeprecedenceoverthosementionedinthistestmethod.Iftherearenomaterialspecifications,thenthedefaultconditionsapply.1.1Thispracticecoversthedeterminationofadegradation-endpoint(abrittlepoint)fordegradablepolyethylene/polypropylenefilmsandsheetinglessthan1.0mm(0.04in.)thick.Thispracticeisnotintendedfordeterminationoftherateofdegreeofdegradationofapolyethylene/polypropylenefilmorsheet,butrather,toassesswheninthecourseofitsdegradationundersomecondition,abrittlepointisreached.Ifonewishestomonitortensileelongationduringthedegradationprocess(suchaswhenthetensileelongationissignificantlygreaterthan5%),TestMethodD882isrecommended.Thispracticeshouldnotbeconsideredtheonlywayofdeterminingadegradation-endpoint.1.2Tensilepropertiesofplastics1.0mm(0.04in.)orgreaterinthicknessshallbedeterminedinaccordancewithTestMethodD638.1.3Useastaticweighing-constantrateofgripseparationtest.Thisprocedureemploysaconstantrateofseparationofthegripsholdingthesampleandastaticloadcell.Note18212;Thisprocedureisbasedontheuseofgripseparationasameasureofextension;however,thedesirabilityofusingextensionindicatorsaccuratetox00B1;1.0%orbetterasspecifiedinTestMethodD638isrecognized,andaprovisionfortheuseofsuchinstrumentationisincorporatedintheprocedure.1.4Thisprocedurehasbeensuccessfulfordeterminingthedegradationendpointofethylene-carbon-monoxidecopolymersandhasscreenedsuccessfullytwootheradditive-typepolyethylenesinaroundrobintest.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.7ThereisnoequivalentISOstandard.
