【摘要】:ThispartofEN599specifiesforeachofthefiveuseclassesdefinedinEN335-1,thebiologicaltestsrequiredforevaluatingtheefficacyofwoodpreservativesforthepreventivetreatmentofsolidtimber,togetherwiththeminimumageingtestsrequiredfortherespectiveuseclass.Itprovidesthemethodforcalculatingthecriticalvalueofapreservative.Thecriticalvalueisthevaluethatshallbeusedtocalculatetherecommendedretentionofthepreservativeappropriateforspecificserviceconditions.Thecriticalvalueisnotnecessarilytherecommendedretentionortheminimumretentionlevelforthepreservative.Thewiderangeofhazards,exposureconditionsandserviceliferequirementsacrossEuropemakeitnecessarytoallowforlocalconsiderationsinthecalculationoftherequiredpreservativeretention;EN351-1providesforthecriticalvaluetobeadjustedtotakeaccountofthesefactors.ThispartofEN599isapplicabletoallwoodpreservativeproductssuppliedforapplicationinliquidformforthepreventivetreatmentoftimbers(structuralandnon-structural)againstwood-attackingfungi,woodattackinginsectsandmarineborersasdescribedinEN335-1.However,itisapplicabletoproductsforpreventivetreatmentsagainstfungicausingdisfigurement(bluestain)ofwoodinserviceifthisformspartoftheoverallpreventiveefficacyoftheproduct.ThispartofEN599doesnotnecessarilytakeintoaccountallthefactorswhichmayaffectthestabilityofactiveingredientsinpreservativetreatedwood.Thesefactorsincludeultra-violetlightandmicrobiologicalagenciescapableofdegradingcomponentsofthepreservative.Suchfactorsareanintegralpartofexposureinfieldtrialsbutaresubjecttonaturalvariationandtheirimpactisnotdirectlyassessedinthefieldtrialmethodsincludedinthisstandard.MethodsareindevelopmenttoassesstheimpactofthesefactorsbutarenotfinalisedandcannotbeincludedinthisrevisionofthispartofEN599.Becausesuchfactorscould,inservice,significantlyaffecttheactiveingredient’ssuitabilityforitsintendedpurpose,themanufacturer/producerisexpectedtoensureandbeabletoprovideevidencethatitsstability,attherecommendedretentionofthepreservativeproduct,hasbeenadequatelyassessed.ThispartofEN599isnotapplicabletowoodpreservativeproductssuppliedforapplicationaspastes,solidsorincapsuleorgaseousformbecausethesecannotbetestedwithoutmodificationofthebiologicaltestscitedinthisstandard.Itdoesnotapplyeithertowoodpreservativeproductsforremedial(curative)treatments,tothoseappliedtopreventfungicausingsapstainongreen(unseasoned)timberortothoseappliedsolelytopreventfungicausingdisfigurement(bluestain)ofwoodinservice.NOTE1ThenatureofthelaboratoryandfieldtestsrequiredinthispartofEN599todemonstrateefficacyofawoodpreservativearesuchthatthetimerequiredgeneratingthedataismanymonthsoryears,dependinguponthepropertiesofthewoodpreservativeandtheuseclassinwhichthetreatedwoodistobeexposed.Forpreservativeproductswhichhavealreadybeenplacedonthemarketwithoutsignificantformulationvariation(seeAnnexA)beforetheendof1990andwhichcandemonstratearecordofhavingbeenusedlawfullyandsuccessfullyinaccordancewithlocaltechnicaltraditionsduringthisperiod,nationalstandardsbodiesorindependentauthoritiesnominatedbythem,maydeclarecriticalvaluesforusewithintheirterritories.NOTE2Forre-testingaftermakingvariationsinproductformulation,guidanceisgiveninAnnexA.
